Now I hear it's been closed altogether. That's reactive.<br />IMO the Viewer 2 fiasco is a large part of it. The put all their faith in a beautiful new viewer, which Mr Avatar and his wife have almost unanimously given a big thumbs-down, due it its emphasis on aesthetics at the expense of usability. Perhaps the ill-conceived viewer was the gift wrapping for a planned company sell-off and has now backfired. Result: Announcements of, er, a new, er, Alpha viewer with, erm (quick someone!) er, voice effects and stuff. And let's also announce that we are looking into getting SL working through standard web browsers. There were the "experts" I was intimidated by - even though others who knew them they said there great people. Over the past year, however, I think my thoughts have changed. I still think there is a very small number of people who think they are the almighty, but the others who I thought that of last year, are not. Over the last year I conversed more on Twitter and posted comments on blogs with some of the people I think you're talking about. This year was different for me, they were friendly, chatted with me a bit, and it gave me a different experience. Perhaps that might happen in your case, if you want it to.IMC Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16279699282698965195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38265606.post-42970966474989770482009-06-22T07:04:45.408-04:002009-06-22T07:04:45.408-04:00Edgar Allan Poe wrote his first horror stories in ...Edgar Allan Poe wrote his first horror stories in Baltimore. And, just let me say that I agree with most of your assessment of LCCC...especially about the power-hungry, ANGRY women who do not support colleagues who are a bit different from them. (Why did they hire me again?) But, that is their cross to bear and it is a heavy one. Perhaps you should slip a copy of Bill Moyer's interview with Joseph Campbell (there are so many interviews between the two great thinkers of out time...I refer to Myth and Metaphor, your latest post). Perhaps they need a little more poetry in their life and a little less academic prose. What I found when I worked at LCCC was that I did not get a second chance when I risked and failed. But, I am happy for the experience as I made many, many friends! There are alot of great people at LCCC! But alas, right now, they are short one great teacher...
